The Chivas Masters competition has been launched for 2018, seeking bartenders who demonstrate cutting-edge skill and creativity as well as collaboration and generosity.
Now in its fifth year, it is running in 22 countries across six continents, featuring Chivas Regal whisky, with a deadline of March 31 for entries from the UK.
The Chivas Masters global champion will win an all-expenses-paid trip to Tales of The Cocktail in New Orleans in 2018 and the chance to travel the world with Chivas to inspire the bartenders of the future.
For all the bartenders taking part, it is an opportunity to grow their skills in a collaborative environment where they can learn from peers, past competitors and industry experts from across the globe.
After Tokyo in 2017, this year’s global final will be held in the UK, both in London and at Strathisla distillery in Speyside where the malt at the heart of Chivas Regal is produced.
The global competition celebrates bartenders who have cutting-edge skill and creativity and share Chivas Regal’s core values of “community, collaboration and generosity”.
This year, the theme of community will sit at the very heart of the competition, with the national stages challenging participants to produce a Chivas drink that is inspired by someone in their local community.
The global final will feature a six-day programme where bartenders will enjoy a series of masterclasses and go through intense individual and team challenges to test their skills and creativity. They will have to prove their generosity by collaborating with their fellow finalists to achieve shared success.
Max Warner, global brand ambassador for Chivas Regal, said: “At Chivas Regal, we believe that generosity and success go hand in hand – a belief inspired by our founding brothers, James and John Chivas, who shared their success with the local community as their business grew.
“These are the values that have influenced the Chivas Masters right from the start, and the reason why in 2018 we are beyond excited to bring the global final home to where our brand, values and indeed our own community were born.”
Last year’s final featured 15 bartenders from around the world (pictured), including winner Atsushi Suzuki from the Sober Company in Shanghai and UK heat winner Rhys Wilson of Happiness Forgets in London.
