A new premium tomato juice, crafted in small batches with hand-picked Isle of Wight tomatoes, has been launched by a team including a former boss of Geronimo Inns.
The brand, Turner Hardy & Co, is led by Eddie Turner, a former managing director of London pub company Geromino Inns, with Hugo Hardman, founder of Chalkstream Foods.
They are supported by a team including cheesemaker Richard Hollingbery from Godminster, tomato specialist Paul Thomas from The Tomato Stall, and Henry Chevallier-Guild from Aspall Cyder.
Eddie and Hugo, both from Hampshire, saw a gap in the market for local and flavourful tomato juices. Eddie said: “Through many years of working in the industry, we realised something very important was missing from bars and the home – a range of versatile, premium-quality tomato juices that offer different flavours to suit every occasion.
“We went on a quest to find the very best tomatoes in the UK and found them on the Isle of Wight, which are properly packed with flavour. We wanted to encapsulate this in a bottle, and that’s how Turner Hardy & Co was born.”
The new juices are available in a range of three flavours: Pure, Lively and Feisty. Pure has no additions, just pure tomato juice. The others contain a different level of natural “kick”: Lively is lightly spiced and Feisty offers more of a burn. They are recommended for drinking on their own or in cocktails.
There are up to eight tomatoes in the 250ml bottle and up to 24 in the 750ml bottle. The recommended on-trade price for the 250ml bottle is between £3.75 and £4.50. On-trade stockists include Ham Yard Hotel in London and Gourmet Burger Kitchen.
