A cocktail competition for Australia’s Four Pillars Gin is offering bartenders the chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip to the distillery near Melbourne and create their own gin.
The brand’s first cocktail competition outside of Australia is open to bartenders across the UK, calling on them to create two serves. They must use Four Pillars Rare Dry Gin for one and either the aromatic Spiced Negroni Gin or the Navy Strength Gin for the other.
With a closing date of April 13, entry can be online at www.australianginopen.com or via Instagram with the hashtag #AustralianGinOpen.
Eight bartenders and their drinks will be selected to attend a regional final in Bristol, Leeds, London or Edinburgh in May, where they will make their drinks and tell their stories live.
The top two winners from each regional final will go through to a public semi-final in London on Sunday July 1, with the final four competing for the grand prize live at the Imbibe Live show in London on July 2.
Two bartenders will win the trip to Australia including a visit to the home of Four Pillars Gin in Healesville to the north-east of Melbourne and have the opportunity to create their own gin in the distillery (pictured below).
Joe Worthington, UK and Europe trade relations manager for Four Pillars, said: “We’re challenging our friends and lovers in the great bars of Great Britain to turn our better gin into better gin drinks.
“Bartenders must show creativity and personality and can win themselves the trip of a lifetime to Australia, where they’ll create their own gin alongside our ‘tinker’ founder and master distiller Cam Mackenzie.
“We actually can’t wait for this to kick off. It’s going to be incredibly exciting going on tour around the UK to visit the country’s best bartenders and seeing what they can do with our gin.”
Joe joined Four Pillars last year as part of the company’s expansion into the UK market in partnership with UK distributor Love Drinks. Most recently general manager at The Distillery in Notting Hill in London, Joe was previously group bars manager for the Applejack Hospitality Group, owner of Sydney bars including Della Hyde, So-Cal, Bondi Hardware and The Butler.
