Funkin answers growing trend for skinny cocktails

Cocktail expert Funkin is breaking into the skinny cocktail market with two new launches — Funkin Skinny Mojito and Funkin Skinny Sex on the Beach mixers.

These skinny mixers are available this month across the on-trade and can be used to make cocktails that have less than 100 calories when used with the recommended spirit.

These new products have been launched in response to the increasing consumer demand for low calorie cocktails – more than half of UK cocktail consumers know the term “skinny cocktails” and 29% of people prefer to order a skinny cocktail. What’s more, this figure is increasing by 81% every year according to the CGA Mixed Drinks Report.

Funkin Skinny Mojito and Funkin Skinny Sex on the Beach are formulated with Stevia, a zero calorie sweetener extracted from natural sources. Funkin Skinny Mojito uses Persian limes from Mexico and aromatic English mint and Funkin Skinny Sex on the Beach uses the oranges, cranberries and peaches, which are balanced with zesty Sicilian lemons from Italy.

Funkin managing director, Andrew King, said: “These great-tasting mixers do not compromise taste and have been carefully crafted with the finest ingredients from all-natural sources. The new range of Skinny mixers provides operators with the opportunity to offer low-calorie versions of the UK’s most popular cocktails allowing them to capitalise on this growing consumer trend.”
