Gin inspires new meat snack from Serious Pig

A new flavour combination has been launched for Serious Pig’s Snackingham meat snacks by adding juniper berries and mixed spices.

Inspired by the boom in craft gin, the air-dried ham is studded with juniper berries and mixed spices, giving Snackingham Juniper + Star Anise an aroma that evokes Chinese pork.

Serious Pig founder George Rice said: “Pork works brilliantly with juniper, but we’ve taken this flavour sensation a step further by adding an exciting mix of spices. Star anise brings an eastern influence to the mix – an exciting combination of tart and spicy working alongside the sweetness of the meat.”

Available in 35g packs, the new variant joins the original Snackingham Classic sliced air-dried ham, Serious Pig’s two Snacking Salamis, and its oven-roasted crackling called Snackling.

Meat snacks continue to out-perform other snack categories, with customers actively opting for higher-welfare options and more interesting flavour combinations.

Enjoying higher market share, Serious Pig has increased its production capacity this year, with the purchase of an automated weighing machine from Cotswold Mechanical. It has further plans to expand its product range next year with more exciting products.
