Leading bartender Luca Missaglia has taken on the new role of global brand ambassador for Italian aperitivo Italicus Rosolio di Bergamotto.
He will support growth for the award-winning brand after more than 10 years working in bars and restaurants, most recently as senior bar manager at Aqua Shard in London. He was previously bar manager at Aqua in the West End and worked at Soho bars Quo Vadis and Lab.
Luca, who grew up near Milan, will work alongside Italicus’s founder, Giuseppe Gallo, to educate industry and consumers on Italicus and the “rebirth” of the historic Italian rosolio category.
Italicus was launched in 2016 as an aperitivo made with high-quality Italian ingredients including Calabrian bergamot. Last year, it was named best new spirit at the Spirited Awards at the Tales of the Cocktail festival in New Orleans and best new European spirit at the Mixology Awards in Berlin.
Giuseppe said: “Luca is one of London’s leading bartenders, and his playful character and passion for his Italian heritage makes him a perfect addition to our team.
“2018 is an important year for Italicus as we are planning global expansion, establishing our core markets and continuing the strong growth we’ve seen in our first 15 months.”
