New awards have been launched for bars, pubs and restaurants operating in Britain’s casual dining sector.
The Casual Dining Restaurant & Pub Awards have been created by the team behind the Casual Dining show, which was held for the second time in London in February.
Categories will include best bar, best new restaurant concept, best pub group, best rebranding, best drinks offering, most innovative menu and an innovation award. A full list of categories will be finalised with an advisory committee at the end of May.
The awards will take place on the evening of February 24, 2016 – during next year’s Casual Dining show in London. There will also be a Gold Medal award to recognise outstanding achievement as well as a Lifetime Achievement Award.
It follows the launch of the Casual Dining Design Awards last year. This year’s winners included The Perfectionists’ Café (pictured) at Heathrow Terminal 2, designed by Afroditi Krassa, and the Hare & Tortoise in Chiswick, London, designed by SAY Architects.
The Fable in London, operated by Drake & Morgan and designed by Fusion Design & Architecture, was awarded highly commended in the category for best designed casual dining pub, but no overall winner was selected this year.
Diversified Communications, which runs Casual Dining and its awards, said design would form only part of the new Casual Dining Restaurant & Pub Awards.
Chris Brazier, Casual Dining’s group event director, said: “We’re delighted that Casual Dining is already seen as the place where decision-makers from the restaurant and pub sector do business.
“Following great feedback, we’re delighted to be launching a major evening awards event where these key players, along with our innovative exhibitors, can let their hair down, network, and celebrate the best that this sector has to offer.”
