More than 400 rums from around the world will be brought together for UK RumFest when it returns on October 14 and 15 at the ILEC Conference Centre in Earl’s Court, London.
Alongside sampling, guests can enjoy a series of seminars from world-leading experts including Don Q’s master blender Jaiker Soto Bravo, tiki specialist Jeff “Beachbum” Berry, Richard Seale of Foursquare Distillery in Barbados, Alexandre Gabriel of Plantation rums, and global rum ambassador Ian Burrell, RumFest’s founder.
The show will also feature the world’s largest tiki-head bar, with Plantation showcasing its pineapple rum, the Highball Bar with Fever-Tree presenting rums with its premium mixers, a Caribbean cocktail bar with Appleton Estate rum and London restaurant and bar Turtle Bay, and a Mini Trini Carnival with Angostura rums.
Guests with Golden Tot tokens will be able to check out ultra-premium, vintage blends such as Velier’s new navy rum, Appleton Estate Joy Anniversary Blend 25 Year Old rum and Don Q’s Reserva de la Familia.
On Friday October 13, the Rumfest Trade & Conference Day, also at ILEC, will feature a Rum Experience University educational session in the morning followed by an afternoon of seminars with speakers such as Luca Gargano of Velier rum, Richard Seale and Jeff “Beachbum” Berry.
Topics will include rhum agricole and the need for a global rum classification. There will also be a tasting of new and boutique rum brands, including many not available at the weekend show.
The day is a rare opportunity for the on-trade, agents, distributors, importers, wholesalers and buyers to come together over rum.
Tickets for the Rum Experience University are £25. The Friday afternoon session is free to the trade. Visit www.rumfest.co.uk.
