Unusual flavour combination wins American Metalcraft competition

A cocktail created by a bartender from Scarfes Bar at the Rosewood London hotel won a competition run by the UK representatives of bar and catering equipment supplier American Metalcraft.

Vitor Lourenço’s Gin Lane (pictured), combining a barrel-aged gin with kümmel, tobacco liqueur and stout, impressed a team of judges from Pro Foodservice Reps (PFR), which represents American Metalcraft, who praised it for its use of unusual flavours.

Vitor, who is bar supervisor at Rosewood London, was presented with an American Metalcraft antique copper cocktail shaker, jigger and four mini mule mugs by PFR light equipment sales manager Charlotte Deykin (pictured below).

The competition, promoted via social media, attracted entrants from throughout the UK. Three finalists were selected by the PFR team based on originality, ingredients, flavour combination and presentation.

The runners-up were Brandon Gatley from One59 Bar & Social in Middlesbrough and Jordan Fry from Newcastle upon Tyne. See below for all three recipes.
