A competition for 1800 Tequila is calling on UK bartenders to create “the ultimate cocktail of the future” for a chance to win a trip to Mexico.

The 1800 Visionaries Cocktail Competition aims to test bartenders’ trendsetting and bartending skills by challenging them to devise a visionary cocktail that will pioneer the cocktail scene and set the tone of what will be stylish in 20 years’ time.

It needs to be visionary not just in the ingredients and taste but in the glassware, appearance and garnish, supported by reasons why this would be the “iconic drink of the future”.

On the entry form, bartenders are asked to focus on the inspiration for their 1800 Tequila cocktail and the guest experience as well as the cocktail itself. It needs to be accompanied by a picture, such as one taken on a phone, and optionally a video can also be submitted.

Entries will be reviewed by a judging panel, leading to six bartenders being invited to take part in a final at the Oxo Tower in London. The prize is an all-expenses-paid trip to Mexico to visit the 1800 Tequila distillery.

Named after the year tequila was first aged in oak barrels, 1800 Tequila celebrates the moment when the spirit first broke with conventions and did something different to make it smoother and more characterful.

The closing date is May 18, 2018. Visit www.1800visionaries.com to enter and for terms and conditions.
