New app connecting pubs and customers to revolutionise industry

The pub is an iconic British establishment, however, in recent years the number of
locals has taken a tumble. The launch of a new app that connects potential
customers looking for a friendly drink at pubs is set to change that.

Wotzon uses convenient and simple technology which makes finding a local to enjoy a pint easy, no matter where in the UK users are located, while giving pubs a chance to promote
themselves and their latest deals or events.

Despite contributing over £23b to the British economy every year, the
number of community pubs has been falling. In fact, at the end of 2015, figures
from the Campaign for Real Ale show that the number of pubs were at their lowest
level in a decade, with an average of 20 pubs closing their doors permanently
every week. The shocking figures encouraged the team behind Wotzon to create
a unique app that brings together punters and pubs.

Paul Norton, founder of Wotzon, said, “Pubs are part of the British culture and to
see so many closing down is disheartening. Being a real ale lover myself, I saw a
gap in the market for a search engine that could help me find which pubs have
my favourite ale on draught.

“Local pubs should be part of the community and our app can help it become a hub once again. By connecting directly with potential customers, pubs can increase their footfall, especially those that are out of the way and don’t typically get spotted by new customers.

“Whether customers are looking for a regular quiz night in their area or a pub that sells their favourite drink while on holiday, Wotzon can bring up a host of suitable establishments for them to head to and try.”

The app supports pub goers and establishments by giving them access to
information on pubs in a simple, easy-to-find format. Customers can find exactly
what they’re looking for, while enterprising pubs can use the app to attract more

Sally Hastewell of Brewers Pride, the pub where Paul came up with
the idea for Wotzon, said, “We’re over the moon that Paul has made the app he
spoke of a reality, it really opens the market for pubs like ours who are hidden
away from the main roads.”

The app also connects brands with both consumers and pubs, allowing them to
see new opportunities to promote their products, whether that be drinks, snacks,
or something else. The platform gives brands access to more information and the
ability to see what’s resonating with their target market. Wotzon has already
partnered with some leading brands, including Crabbie’s, Red Square, and
Dunkertons, and has ambitious plans to collaborate with even more well-known
names over the course of 2017 and beyond.

The app will officially launch on February 7 2017 at PUB17 at the Olympia exhibition centre, London. As well as being on hand to showcase the innovative app’s features to delegates, the team will also be taking part in the exhibition’s programme, including being part of the margins masterclass presentation.

Wotzon is looking for pubs and breweries to get on board before the big launch in
order to feature in its demo. To find out more visit or visit Wotzon at PUB17, where the company will be on stand 174.
