Flavoured with strawberries and cream, Picnic Gin is a fruity spirit, which producers describe as “The true taste of British summertime – in a bottle”.
Located in the North East, Poetic License Independent Small Batch Distillery launched in 2015. Its Picnic Gin is a sweet gin, creamy in texture and in taste, with a strong fruity nose as well as more typical gin notes of juniper, coriander and orris root. For added strawberries and creaminess, it is distilled as well as infused with the botanicals which also gives it a deep red colour that tints to a blushing pink when mixed with tonic.
“Picnic Gin was a much-loved tipple for many during the summer 2016 however, since we stopped making it last September, we’ve had countless enquiries about it. So we thought we’d give the people what they want and bring the Picnic Gin back, and what better time than as we move into the warmer seasons”, managing director, Mark Hird, said.
Picnic gin was award a Gold medal in Spirit Masters 2016 and is the perfect partner to many a summer beverage. The serving suggestions is with Elderflower Tonic, which accentuates the sweetness of the strawberries, with a fresh strawberry garnish. The red liquid is a versatile spirit and can be used as an alternative to Pimms in a summer fruit cup with lemonade and mixed fruit, or as a topper to fizz for a Bellini cocktail.
