Bloc, a social events app, is paying people to attend venues via geo-location through a reward like system.Users check-in to venues and if they attend, they are rewarded Bloc’s in-app currency – stars. Once a user has collected enough stars, they can exchange them for real money. The biggest payout is £250. They can also connect and chat with each other before attending a venue.
There are other ways users can earn Bloc’s in-app currency other than checking-in. They can be rewarded by receiving stars from another user, inviting friends and following Bloc’s Instagram.
Marketing managers are taking advantage of their 18-35 user base by advertising their venues in the app to drive more people there. Advertisers can trial the service with £150 free credit at business.getonbloc.com.
It’s easy for a venue to get started with Bloc’s advertising by simply creating a newsfeed ad. This is shown to every Bloc user within a 10-mile radius of the venue. The venue is also placed in three other placements to help increase check-ins.
“There is a financial and social benefit for using Bloc,” says Louie Kleeberg, Bloc’s head of sales. “Bloc’s users are continuously looking for new places to check-in so Bloc’s advertising is the perfect place to raise awareness of venues they wouldn’t otherwise know about. They are also rewarded more stars for checking in to an advertised venue, so there’s a real incentive there.”
Bloc is also the first platform that allows advertisers to pay per result, which is a customer inside a venue, spending. The venue is only charged £2 (inc VAT) if a user checks in and actually goes, using geo-location technology. So the venue can have the peace of mind that it’s risk-free advertising and budget-friendly.
To find out more about how Bloc works and Bloc’s advertising venue managers are invited to explore Bloc’s interactive demo. Bloc can be downloaded for free on iOS and Android. New advertisers will get £150 ad credit to trial the service which is 75 new customers for free. After 75 people have attended then it’s just £2 (inc VAT) per customer.
