Aberdeen gin set to grow with new UK distributor

Porter's Gin

Porter’s Gin from Aberdeen is set to grow its presence in the UK market after appointing Marussia UK as its exclusive distributor.

Having established itself in some of the leading cocktail bars in the UK and beyond, the gin is being promoted as a “modern classic that plays by its own rules”.

The recipe for Porter’s was developed by a team of bar industry experts in Aberdeen including Ben Iravani and Alex Lawrence who is now head bartender at leading bar Dandelyan at the Mondrian London hotel.

The gin combines traditional distillation with cold distillation to extract light flavours from delicate botanicals normally damaged by heat.

Aside from juniper, the botanicals are angelica, almond, coriander, liquorice, lemon, orange, buddha’s hand, pink peppercorn, orris root, cassia bark and cinnamon, creating a gin with a bold juniper body and a unique citrus profile.

Ben said: “This is a significant and exciting step in the growth of our company. When we met with Marussia, they clearly understood and loved our brand – and there seemed to be a very natural culture fit. We’re hopeful that this is the start of a successful long-term partnership.”

Paul Buckle, commercial director at Marussia UK, added: “We are delighted to be adding Porter’s Gin to our portfolio of premium brands. We’ve looked at a number of UK gin brands, but Porter’s
stood out from the crowd. We feel it has great potential, and we’re confident that our customers will be proud to stock such a prestigious brand.”
