Living Ventures has announced its latest site for The Alchemist bar and restaurant in Birmingham is to open in the city’s business district in September.
Taking over part of The Grand redevelopment in Colmore Row, it will be the seventh location for the concept which combines all-day dining with crafted cocktails. The new site will create 60 new jobs.
With stylish interiors and premium drinks, The Alchemist already has five venues around the UK, including two in Manchester, two in Leeds and one in London, with a sixth due to open in Liverpool in August. Future sites are also planned for Alderley Edge in Cheshire and MediaCity in Salford.
Simon Potts, managing director of The Alchemist, said: “Birmingham has been on our radar for a while now and we have been waiting for the perfect venue. We are excited to be bringing our dynamic and theatrical offering to this district of the city centre.
“We will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, so Colmore Row will be a perfect location for both business meetings and the discerning drinker.”
The company has launched a drive to recruit around 60 new team members for the venue. Offering the national living wage, it will put them through an intense two-week training programme to support The Alchemist’s extensive food and drink menus.
Simon added: “Ensuring that we recruit passionate team members is an extremely important part of our business. We thrive on giving our customers a great experience and our team members play an integral part in helping our brand to deliver this.
“Being in the Midlands right now is extremely exciting, and I’m glad that we can be a part of the regeneration process. The opening of our new venue will offer up to 60 jobs to local talent here in Birmingham.”
