A new range of premium alcohol-free craft beer, brewed with myco adaptogens, a class of fungi celebrated for its health benefits, has launched to the UK on and off-trade.
The brand, Fungtn, boasts three 0.5% ABV SKU’s. The first variant, Lion’s Mane IPA, is an “earthy yet light” IPA with notes of hay and caramel and a delicate bitter undertone from Lion’s Mane mushrooms. The beer is said to have neurotrophic benefits, helping to protect the brain, as well as enhancing cognitive development and nerve function.
The portfolio also includes the “immunity-boosting” Reishi Citra Beer. Described as cloudy and juicy, it offers notes of tropical fruits and pineapple on the nose, with bittersweet hops balancing with the naturally bitter Reishi mushroom.
The final beer, Chaga Lager, a dark European-style lager with “chocolate undertones”, is said to boast antioxidant properties. The Chaga mushrooms used are high in a compound called Superoxide Dismutase (SOD), which acts as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent. It is also renowned for its role in activating the immune system and keeping blood sugar levels to a natural equilibrium.
