Amaro di Angostura is expanding its cocktail competition Versus, which launched last year in London, Milan and Rome.
Versus was created by the House of Angostura for its liqueur Amaro di Angostura to get bartenders working together in rounds, challenging their speed, technique and creativity.
The House of Angostura has teamed up with UK industry stalwart Jim Wrigley of B&H Buildings who hosted the UK final and 2017 International final to bring the competition further afield in 2018.
The 2018 competition debuted in Lithuania and Ukraine earlier this summer and sees 12 countries battle it out across the globe, with London, North West England and Paris taking place this September. Malaysia, Sweden, Denmark, Hong Kong, Norway, Greece, Russia and Italy will also take place throughout October and November.
Versus London will be hosted at REV JW Simpson on 24 September with Laki Kane, Cahoots, Callooh Callay and the London Cocktail Club competing.
Versus North West will see The Liars Club, Arcane, Red Door Liverpool and Santa Chupitos take to the bar at The Liars Club in Manchester on 26 September.
The winning UK bar team will win an all-expenses paid trip to the Athens Bar Show in November 2018, courtesy of the House of Angostura.
Amaro di Angostura global brand ambassador Daniyel Jones said: “This competition is not for the faint hearted, it will be fast, skillful, competitive, intense and above all, entertaining.”
Natasha Mustapha Scott, executive manager of marketing at the House of Angostura, added: “Amaro di Angostura is a herbal liqueur which since it launched, has won approval of leading bartenders across the world.
“We wanted to create a competition which celebrated the versatility of Amaro di Angostura and really focus on what bartenders love about their trade – namely intensity, teamwork and fun! Versus is exactly that but also very technically challenging.”
