Amathus announces UK partnership with Greek craft beer brand

Specialist drinks importer, distributor and retailer Amathus Drinks has announced a new UK partnership with Greek craft beer brand Septem.

Founded in 2007 by winemaker Sophocles Panagiotou and his brother George Panagiotou, Septem’s range of premium unpasteurised craft beers are produced at a microbrewery in Orologio, situated on Evia, the second largest island in Greece.

Septem, meaning ‘seven’ in Latin, is traditionally the number signifying creation, and is the inspiration behind the concept of developing a variety of beers themed after days of the week.

Adopting the same oenological philosophy to beer making, Sophocles sees the hop as the “grape” of beer. Selecting high quality, whole flower hops and malts from around the world, he creates beers of “distinctive aroma and flavour” which characterise Septem.

Deliberately unpasteurised in order to maintain the freshness, aromas and flavours of the hops, Septem beers can be savoured on their own or as an accompaniment to food.

Harry Georgiou, founder and managing director of Amathus said: “We are very excited about the opportunity to introduce the Septem beer range to the UK.

“These exceptional beers offer consumers an attractive choice of styles to suit all tastes and occasions, and we believe that they represent the highest standards of craft beer available internationally, putting Greek craft beer firmly on the global map.”
