Angostura releases first rum in new cask collection

Angostura No 1The first in a new collection of limited-edition premium rums from Angostura on the Caribbean island of Trinidad has been released in the UK.

Bottled at 40% ABV and aged in special casks, Angostura No 1 is a blend of rums aged from 10 to 12 years and then left for an extra 12 months in first-fill bourbon casks.

Only 9,600 bottles of No 1 are available globally with just 20 cases allocated to the UK. It will be followed by more releases in the Cask Collection which is entirely dedicated to rums made in special barrels.

All Angostura rums are aged in American oak casks that were once used for ageing bourbon which results in a mellow well-balanced rum with the smoothness that is characteristic of Angostura’s blends.

Angostura international brand manager Alison Gibb said: “It’s the first Angostura premium rum to be aged in our first-fill bourbon barrels and we are confident that this initial interest will continue to grow as the collection expands.

“We are already seeing huge interest from consumers and undoubtedly the popularity of quality approved rum is on the increase as enthusiasts look for standout taste and an exceptional finish.”
