Appletiser to add pomegranate and apple variant

A new apple and pomegranate variant is to be added as a spin-off of premium adult soft drink brand Appletiser.

Distributed by Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE), the launch of Apple & Pomegranate Appletiser in a 275ml bottle aims to help licensees to boost their adult soft drinks sales.

Available from July, it follows research by SPA Future Thinking that showed that pomegranate was one of the most desired flavours in the adult special soft drinks sector.

CCE’s “See the Opportunity” report highlights the importance of adult soft drinks in the on-trade as there is a £52million growth opportunity for outlets that successfully tap into the “best social mix” occasion.

The launch will be supported with point-of-sale materials, PR and digital marketing. It follows 22% growth in the licensed channel for Appletiser, according to the latest CGA Brand Index figures.

Phil Thomson, associate director of portfolio brands at CCE, said: “Following a successful period of growth for Appletiser, we are supporting the brand further with the launch of this new variant which taps into the demand for exotic fruit flavours like pomegranate.

“We are committed to bringing new products to the on-trade channel to help grow our customers’ sales, particularly ahead of the key summer trading period which potentially offers outlets a significant sales opportunity.

“Many consumers are looking for an alternative to alcohol to enjoy during the summer and we’d recommend outlets stock up on the new Apple & Pomegranate Appletiser variant, which has researched really well with consumers.”
