Appleton Estate set for rum tasting on Twitter

Appleton Estate Rare 12

More than 400 people around the UK will be taking part in a tasting of Appleton Estate Jamaican Rum today thanks to social media.

Appleton Estate’s senior blender, David Morrison, and global rum ambassador and RumFest founder Ian Burrell will host the live Twitter tasting from 7.30pm to 8.15pm.

Using the #AppletonLive hashtag, they will share their thoughts by tweet as they work through the range, including the 12-year-old Appleton Estate Rare Blend and a bottled Appleton Estate Mai Tai.

More than 400 people have received special tasting kits after entering a competition run on Facebook and Twitter at the end of September. The kits also gave tips on how to host a Taste of Jamaica party at home with friends to tie in with the tasting.

Guests have also been invited to attend the live tasting which will be taking place at the private Gruppo Campari bar up The Shard at London Bridge.

The event is being run as part of Rum Experience Week which culminates in UK RumFest at the ILEC in west London. Details at www.rumexperienceweek.com.
