Develop, Support, Train, Grow: The new vocational programme provided by The Drinks Trust.

“It’s no secret to anyone that the UK’S hospitality industry is experiencing a rise in the staff shortage crisis, with job vacancies at their highest levels since the pandemic began in 2020.

Industry bodies report that one in five workers have left the sector during the coronavirus pandemic, with Covid and Brexit often cited as exacerbating the problem. Furthermore, a considerate proportion of the hospitality workforce that has returned to their jobs has also been affected by the so-called “pingdemic”, leading to further shortages due to workers being advised to self-isolate. At the same time, there is still an inordinate workforce struggling with long term debt who do not have the opportunity or available money to support career mobility.

For all these reasons, The Drinks Trust is pleased to introduce you to our soon-to-be-launched programme: DEVELOP, support, train, grow – The Drinks Trust’s new vocational programme available in Autumn 2021.

The new service’s objectives will be:

1.         Provide fully subsidised or reduced-cost access to industry-recognised education and skills-enhancing courses to individuals facing hardship.

2.         Offer access to a range of e-learning on industry-specific courses and self-guided career support to those facing hardship and unique space for industry professionals to share, learn and support one another.

3.         Create a central signposting service with information on verified training providers and vocational resources to everyone in the industry and foster links between training providers and employers.

Through the programme DEVELOP, The Drinks Trust will aim to provide support to individuals facing hardship across various ages and stages in their careers with dedicated courses and resources tailored for their needs.

Even if the programme won’t be launched until Autumn, The Drinks Trust is looking for valuable corporate partners to support this new ambitious programme of the charity.

If your company is interested in investing in the industry’ workforce future, please become an official corporate partner of DEVELOP by getting in touch with The Drinks Trust Fundraising team by emailing partnerships@drinkstrust.org.uk”.
