Bars and pubs can tap into new free promotional support created for National Chip Week by potato products specialist Aviko.

The company has developed colourful posters, flyers and tent cards to encourage drinkers and diners to order a portion of chips during the celebration from February 16 to 22. It is available to download at www.aviko.co.uk/downloads.

To coincide with National Chip Week, Aviko has also introduced two new Supercrunch fries – the Supercrunch 15mm and the Supercrunch 9.5mm Skin-On – which have a unique coating for a crispier, crunchy texture.

Mohammed Essa, general manager UK and Ireland for Aviko, said: “As a leading potato partner to the foodservice industry we’re delighted to be able to support caterers by offering our great-tasting products and free point-of-sale materials to help them capitalise on their chip offerings.”

The two new Supercrunch fries are part of a range that holds heat for up to 15 minutes, making it suitable for operators who are under pressure to prepare food in a limited time. The range also has a shelf life of up to 18 months.

Mohammed said: “The Supercrunch range allows chefs to offer something a little bit more special at a premium price and is a great accompaniment to the recent trend for gourmet burgers and hot dogs. They are also longer than the average fry meaning caterers benefit from better plate fill and more portions.

“Chips and fries account for an impressive 73% of servings of potato products in the foodservice market so there’s a real opportunity for caterers to maximise profits by offering premium fries with an irresistible point of difference.”
