Award-winning bartender becomes brand ambassador for Porter’s Gin

Award-winning bartender Jack Wareing has been announced as brand ambassador for Porter’s Gin to support its expansion in the UK and overseas.

Jack (pictured), who has been at Dandelyan at the Mondrian London hotel since 2015, will lead the on-trade education and advocacy programme for the premium brand that comes from Aberdeen.

At Dandelyan, Jack contributed drinks to two of the bar’s highly acclaimed menus, including his Papa Popeye which helped it win World’s Best Cocktail Menu at the Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards in 2016.

During his time there, the Dandelyan team also won Best International Hotel Bar, Best International Bar Team and World’s Best Cocktail Bar at the 2017 Spirited Awards and rose to second place in the 2017 ranking of the World’s 50 Best Bars.

Jack’s achievements include being part of a group of bartenders from around the world to win a place in Auchentoshan whisky’s New Malt Order, going on to create a new expression called The Bartender’s Malt.

Porter’s Gin, distributed exclusively by Marussia Beverages UK, was developed by a team from the bar industry, based in Aberdeen: Alex Lawrence, who is head bartender at Dandelyan, with Ben Iravani and Josh Rennie.

Ben said: “Jack Wareing is a rising star in the industry with bags of knowledge about botanicals and enthusiasm for pushing boundaries in the drinks world. This makes him the perfect ambassador for Porter’s – a brand that blends modern and traditional techniques and brings a fresh new perspective to the gin category.”

The gin, which won the IWSC Gold Award in 2016, has punchy juniper and unique citrus profiles created by combining classic and contemporary distillation methods.
