Baa Bar expands with new Leeds bar

Baa Bar Group is preparing to continue expansion outside of its Merseyside heartland with its first bar in Leeds next month.

The new Baa Bar will be in Cookridge Street in the vibrant Millennium Square area and will be the Liverpool-based company’s 11th bar. As well as Liverpool, it already has sites in Manchester and Nottingham.

The Leeds launch is part of Baa Bar Group’s expansion plan to open 10 new bars over the next five years across key locations in the UK.

Chief executive Elaine Clarke said: “For Baa Bar, it’s all about finding the right sites and we feel we’ve found a gem in Leeds’s Millennium Square.

“Baa Bar is already a massive part of the nightlife scenes in Liverpool, Manchester and Nottingham and it’s time that Leeds got to see what they’ve been missing out on.”

The brand, which celebrates its 21st birthday this year, is looking for further sites in the Yorkshire region with Sheffield and York among the target list.

Group chairman Richard O’Sullivan said: “Yorkshire is a fantastic place to invest and we’re keen to find the best sites that the region has to offer.

“Baa Bar has maintained its position on the nightlife circuit for the past 21 years by maintaining a commitment to great value and great times. We’re one of the few places where you can come out with £20 in your pocket, enjoy a good night out and still come home with change.”

The Millennium Square site will provide the signature experience of “contemporary music, unique design, excellent value and great atmosphere” that has been at the heart of the brand since 1991. It will provide over 40 jobs.
