UK bars among nominees in Golden Rum Barrel Awards

Golden Rum Barrel Awards RumFest

Bars in Sheffield, Manchester, Leeds and London are among nominees in this year’s Golden Rum Barrel Awards, held as part of UK RumFest.

The Liars Club in Manchester, Mojo in Manchester and Leeds, and Mahiki and Trailer Happiness in London are all up for the title of most influential rum bar in the UK over the past 10 years.

Nominees in the award for rum menu of the year are Cubana in Sheffield, Merchant House in the City of London and The Rum Kitchen and Rum & Sugar in London.

The Liars Club, Mahiki, Trailer Happiness, Merchant House and Rum & Sugar are all up for two other categories: rum bar team of the year and best UK rum website.

There are also awards for best international and UK rum ambassadors, best new rum, most influential blender, best distillery ambassador and rum influencer of the year. See below for the full list.

The Golden Rum Barrel Awards celebrate the stars of the rum industry with a three-course rum dinner at the Kensington Crowne Plaza Hotel on the evening of Sunday October 23.

It follows a busy weekend of Boutique RumFest today and RumFest on Saturday and Sunday, both held at the Ibis Hotel Earls Court in west London.

As it is UK RumFest’s 10th show, this year’s awards focus on 10 years of rum achievers. There is also an award for best rum exhibited at Boutique RumFest.

The sponsor for the event is Green Engineering, an Italian company specialising in design and construction of state-of-the-art distilleries for spirits and bio-fuels.
