Bars and restaurants across the UK are celebrating Normandy’s classic spirit with National Calvados Week.
Run by Emporia Brands for leading brand Père Magloire, it features special cocktails and drinks menus, food pairing dinners, tastings and other events.
It runs from today (October 16) until Sunday, October 22, and involves leading bars such as Bramble, Panda & Sons, Heads & Tales, The Bon Vivant and The Voodoo Rooms in Edinburgh and The Finnieston, Porter & Rye and Drugstore Social in Glasgow.
In England, participating venues include 45 West in Leicester, Jekyll & Hyde in Birmingham, Alvino’s in Newcastle upon Tyne, Last Chance Saloon in Nottingham, The Plotting Parlour in Brighton and Swift, Merchant House, Baranis, Mash London and German Gymnasium in London.
This year’s calvados celebration involves five mixer brands as sponsors, promoted within all participating venues for the signature serve of a Père Magloire and tonic. They are Fever-Tree, Franklin & Sons, Fentimans, Double Dutch and Peter Spanton No 1 Tonic.
The week-long celebration, which also involves retailers such as Waitrose and The Drink Shop, marks the harvesting of the apples for the production of calvados.
