British aperitif Kamm & Sons has teamed up with a London bar to demonstrate how the spirit can be used in festive mulled drinks.
The Four Sisters in Islington has added two drinks, Sisters & Sons Mulled Wine and Sisters & Sons Mulled Cider, to its menu this December. See below for the recipes.
Alex Kammerling, creator of Kamm & Sons, explained: “Kamm & Sons contains a complex blend of 45 natural botanicals including spices, nuts and roots all of which complement the mulling and make for a great flavour pairing with seasonal drinks.”
Alex, formerly a bartender in London, produces Kamm & Sons at a distillery in the capital, making it a good fit for The Four Sisters’ celebration of local produce.
Simon Bastable, owner of the Islington bar, said: “There is a great culture growing around the drinks industry in north London at the moment and the ‘Sisters & Sons’ idea is about taking the best of local produce and creating something special with it. We’re planning on even more local partnerships with microdistilleries and producers in 2015.
“The aperitif is a great European tradition which has gained popularity in the UK in recent years. Kamm & Sons was invented in Highbury and is one of Islington’s most exciting exports.
“Not only is this a local drink but a natural companion to the purees, infusions and other ingredients which we make behind the bar using a variety of produce which we source locally at Chapel Market.”
The new Sisters & Sons recipes are joined on the Four Sisters seasonal menu this December by the Ginger Bread, consisting of Martel VS cognac, Grand Marnier liqueur and gingerbread syrup, and the Coqui, a Caribbean twist on the classic Eggnog, with Myers’s dark rum, Havana Club añejo and coconut milk.
