Bars sign up to be part of International Sherry Week

bar pepito sherryBars and restaurants in the UK are signing up to take part in International Sherry Week, celebrating the Spanish wine with cocktails, food and flamenco.

Organised by a team of sherry educators and experts, it will run from June 2 to 8, featuring events across the UK and the rest of the world.

To take part, bars and restaurants need to register for free at The events will be promoted via the International Sherry Week network, with organisers able to tap into ideas for making the most of their event.

Currently, nearly 100 events have been registered in 13 countries, including the UK, at bars and restaurants such as tapas bar Carmen in Clapham, south London, and Bar Pepito (pictured) in King’s Cross, London.

It is also set to involve distributors, wholesalers, producers, retailers and importers and also see people organise private parties.

It has been designed in consultation with the regulatory council of sherry wines, the Consejo Regulador de las DDO Jerez, to support the promotion of sherry worldwide. International Sherry Week follows Jerez in southern Spain – the home of sherry – winning the title of European Wine City 2014.
