Bartender offers “gin journeys” as part of new venture

Leon Dalloway Gin JourneyAward-winning bartender Leon Dalloway (pictured) is taking consumers on “gin voyages” as part of his new events company Shake Rattle and Stir.

He puts together Gin Journey tours that take people round leading cocktail bars in London as well as City of London Distillery off Fleet Street so they can learn all about the spirit.

The tours, with transport between each bar, include gins and cocktails made with brands such as Martin Miller’s, Beefeater, Bulldog, Sloane’s and Dodd’s. They cost from £50 per person, including all “gin carriages”, drinks and a “gin guardian” for the evening.

Leon said: “Gin is an amazing spirit and is going through a well-deserved revolution at the moment so I wanted to create something that combined fun gin tasting with education for all the gin enthusiasts out there, and the people who are passionate about drinks as I am.”

He previously worked for London Bar Consultants, which operate City of London Distillery’s COLD Bar, and Socio Rehab, the former cocktail bar owned by Beautiful Drinks in Manchester.

He was also northern brand ambassador for Martin Miller’s Gin and has won national cocktail competitions for brands such as Sloane’s Gin, Bénédictine liqueur and Pink Pigeon rum.

Shake Rattle and Stir also runs gin masterclasses and is developing the London Gin Experience, a broader tour that takes in more aspects of London’s gin industry and heritage, due to launch in spring 2014.
