Bartenders challenged to create cocktails with Ting and El Jimador

Ting Mixologist Awards

Bartenders are being challenged to create a cocktail using classic soft drink Ting and El Jimador tequila in a nationwide competition.

First launched in 2014, the Ting Mixologist Awards are calling for entries via Ting’s Facebook page at by the deadline of this Friday, August 4. The prize is £2,000 MasterCard gift card.

Judges will select 16 bartenders to compete in one of two regional semi-final heats, run in partnership with Revolución de Cuba bars, where they will make their chosen cocktail before being assessed by a panel of experts.

Eight will compete in the northern semi-final taking place at Revolución de Cuba in Manchester on August 17 and the southern semi-final at Revolución de Cuba in Reading on August 24.

The top three bartenders at each heat will go to the grand final at Revolución de Cuba in Nottingham on September 21. As well as the top prize of £2,000, there will be prizes for each of the finalists.

Bartenders will need to showcase the versatility of Ting, a sparkling drink made with real Caribbean grapefruit which is perfect as a mixer for a range of cocktails.

Partnering with El Jimador is seen as a natural fit as the collection of three double-distilled tequilas – blanco, reposado and añejo — are all made with 100% hand-harvested blue Weber agave and provide the ideal base for a variety of exotic mixed drinks.

The competition will be as much about creating a unique event for customers at the Revolución de Cuba bars as it is for the bartenders on the night. Guests are invited to watch the competition play out at each stage. There will be early-bird tickets available for the first 50 people to sign up to attend each of the regional heats and final, which includes a free Paloma cocktail with Ting and El Jimador on arrival. There will also be prize giveaways and an in-house DJ on the night.

To sign up for the early-bird tickets, send an email with the subject line “ting mixologist awards early bird tickets” to, confirming number of tickets required, at which venue and names to be placed on the guest list. Please note there is a maximum of four tickets per person.
