Bartenders challenged to create G&T twist

No 3 GinBartenders from across the UK are being invited to enter a competition for No 3 Gin, challenging them to make a twist on a classic gin and tonic.

Five regional events at Brighton, Bristol, Edinburgh, Manchester and London will be followed by a grand final for the winners of each regional event on June 17.

The final will be held at the Berry Bros & Rudd No 3 Bar at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

The competition, called Hit the Right Key, is organised by Maxxium UK, which distributes the London dry gin for owner Berry Bros & Rudd.

All finalists will receive drinks at Dukes Hotel in St James’s, London – renowned for its Martinis – as well as behind-the-scenes tours of the Royal Albert Hall and the historic premises of Berry Bros & Rudd in St James’s.

The overall winner of the Hit the Right Key No 3 London Dry Gin Cocktail Challenge 2013 will receive an engraved crystal decanter from The Redman Emerald Collection by noted designer David Redman. The decanter design emulates the shape of the needle-like juniper leaf and features an English hallmarked sterling silver square collar and a clear crystal stopper.

Mike Mackenzie, brand manager for No 3 London Dry Gin, said: “This is a terrific opportunity for the country’s leading bartenders to showcase their creativity with a classic mixed drink using an outstanding traditional London dry gin with juniper at its heart.”
