Bartenders have a chance to win a VIP trip to Dijon in France, including training in making liqueurs, in a cocktail competition launched for Gabriel Boudier liqueurs.

Emporia Brands, which distributes the French brand in the UK, is calling for entries to the competition which will have its national final at the Northern Restaurant & Bar show in Manchester on March 18.

Competitors are asked to submit two drinks. The first recipe must be a signature serve containing at least 10ml of any expression from the Gabriel Boudier Iconic range, while the second recipe must be a signature serve containing at least 15ml of any expression from the Gabriel Boudier Bartender range.

Otherwise, they have free rein to create two unique cocktails worthy of winning the grand prize. A maximum time limit of 10 minutes on the main stage will be given in which both cocktails will be re-created for the judging panel.

It will be hosted by Dave Marsland, aka Drinks Enthusiast, who works with Emporia Brands in the north. The judges at the final will include Simon Difford of Diffords Guide. They will be scoring based on knowledge on the Gabriel Boudier brand, the appearance and presentation of the drinks, the aromas of the cocktails and how it tastes.

The winner will visit Dijon as the guest of Gabriel Boudier. The trip will include liqueur training in Dijon and the chance to share expertise with the Battault family, creators of the range, as well as an opportunity to find out why Dijon, the gateway to Burgundy, is seen as one of the most beautiful cities in France.
