Bartenders from across the south to compete in UKBG heat

Bartenders from across the south of England are set to compete for a chance to represent the UK at the International Bartenders Association (IBA) world championships in Tokyo.

After the first heat was held in the north last month, the UKBG National Cocktail Challenge is seeking bartending brilliance in its southern heat in Dorset on July 22.

It will be held at Captains Club Hotel in Christchurch, again sponsored by cocktail liqueur brand De Kuyper. Visit www.ukbartendersguild.co.uk to register – entrants must be members of the UKBG to compete.

Contenders will be challenged to make a twist on a classic Crusta, featuring at least 20ml from the De Kuyper liqueur range. Each drink must be presented and served to four people within seven minutes and will be judged on appearance, aroma and taste.

The winners will go through to the national final in London in October which will choose a bartender to represent the UK in the IBA World Cocktail Championship in Tokyo in 2016. They will join three bartenders who were selected at the northern heat to compete in the UK final.
