UK’s Ally Martin ready for Bacardi Legacy global final in Sydney

Bartenders from around the world have arrived in Sydney for the global semi-final and final of this year’s Bacardi Legacy competition.

The 34 competitors have all won national heats, including UK representative Ally Martin (pictured) of Peg + Patriot bar in east London with his cocktail, the Young Cuban.

Their visit is already under way, with two days of seminars, bar tours and hospitality on Wednesday and Thursday this week before the completion begins with the semi-finals on Friday and Saturday.

After six rounds of semi-finals, the finalists will be announced for the grand final that takes place on Sunday May 3 at Sydney Town Hall.

The judges in the grand final include Ago Perrone, head bartender at The Connaught Bar at London’s Connaught Hotel, and British bartender Tom Walker who won the global Bacardi Legacy competition last year. Formerly at The American Bar at London’s Savoy, he now works at Attaboy in New York City.
