Bartenders get creative for prize trip to Madrid

poshmakersBartenders have been challenged to get creative with gin, rum and vodka for a chance to win the prize of a trip for two to Madrid including the city’s nightlife.

Run across The Poshmakers range of spirits, it calls on entrants to come up with a cocktail that has a name and personality inspired by a book, fact or fiction, comic or biography.

The competition, called Putting Pen To Shaker, includes a chance for the winner to have a written piece published in Bar magazine and on Barmagazine.co.uk covering their trip and experience at the competition.

The stay in Madrid will include a visit to Bristol Bar which is owned by Ellie Baker and Fran Ameijeiras who formed drinks producer The Poshmakers.

The competition requires bartenders to create a cocktail that uses two products out of The Poshmakers’ four-strong portfolio: Ish Gin, Ish Limed, AKA Vodka and Virgin Gorda rum. The two spirits must total between 50ml and 100ml combined but there are no restrictions on the other ingredients.

The Manchester heat will be held at Gaucho on October 22 and the London heat at Galante in Kensington on October 29. The Edinburgh heat will be held on November 6 during Boutique Bar Show at Mansfield Traquair.

The final will be held at Salvatore’s at Playboy Club in Mayfair, London, on November 12.

The competition is run by distributor 10 Degrees C with mixologist and bar owner Jimi Pearce.

To enter, email jimipearce@me.com at least seven days before each heat.
