London bartender James Cowan is set to join bartenders from around the world to compete in the global final of Beefeater Gin’s MIXLDN competition this month.
James (pictured), from The Luggage Room at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square, will represent the UK after winning the national heat that challenged bartenders to create a cocktail inspired by London.
Bartenders from 30 countries will compete over three days of challenges in London from January 12 to 14 to determine the next Beefeater MIXLDN Global Bartender Champion. It has the theme of “London Inspires You. You Inspire London”.
Their talent and creativity will be tested before an expert panel of judges comprising renowned bartender Ryan Chetiyawardana of London bars Dandelyan and White Lyan, spirits writer Dave Broom and Beefeater master distiller Desmond Payne.
The global winner will be mentored by experts at the Beefeater Global Brand Ambassador Programme and will attend two of the world’s most prestigious bartender events of their choice, which could include Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans, the Moscow Bar Show or the Tokyo Bar Show.
