Bartenders join Black Cow Vodka as UK brand ambassadors

Two bartenders, including one with a PhD in medical science, have been appointed as the first UK brand ambassadors for Black Cow Vodka.

Harry Roper and Georgia Billing (pictured) have been brought in to take the growing brand to the trade, including other bartenders, and to consumers at festivals and other events.

Georgia, who has worked in the bar industry since 2004, has a PhD in medical science and has done extensive laboratory work on cow’s milk and human milk. Her supervisor introduced her to the vodka which is made from the milk of grass-grazed cows in Dorset.

She said: “From studying milk as a liquid of essential nourishment, to enjoying this beautiful, creamy distilled spirit, my relationship with Black Cow Vodka was set to continue and I can’t wait to introduce it to consumers at events, and expose it more to the bar industry in future – all over the world!”

Georgia, who works at Plateau in the City of London, was also announced this month as one of just two UK winners in a competition run for Auchentoshan whisky. Click here for the full story.

Harry has worked at and managed busy bars in Spain, where he lived in Barcelona for six years, as well as Brighton where he worked at former bar Above Audio.

His new role includes running in-store and on-trade tastings and Black Vow Vintage Cheddar Cheese & Skittles evenings – featuring the cheese made from the curds of the same milk used to make the vodka – as well as managing the pop-up Black Cow Saloon bar at festivals.

He said: “This is a new challenge for me and one I plan on embracing to its fullest, using my previous experience within the drinks industry and my high level of enthusiasm to spread the word about Black Cow.”

Georgia and Harry report to the brand’s global sales director Emma Wykes, formerly managing director of leading drinks company Marblehead Brand Development. They join the brand’s founders Paul Archard and Jason Barber and the rest of the Black Cow team based in west Dorset, the home of Black Cow Vodka.

Emma said: “It’s exciting finding and recruiting the next generation’s drinks specialists. It will be a mutually beneficial learning experience for all and both Harry and Georgia bring enthusiasm and intelligence to the role.”

Launched in 2012, Black Cow is a super-premium 40% ABV vodka distilled from the whey of milk and treated to a secret blending process created by dairy farmer Jason Barber. It is distributed in the UK by Mangrove.
