Bartenders win trip to Tennessee in Jack Daniel’s campaign

Jack Daniel's Nearest and Dearest

Three bartenders are off to Tennessee to learn more about whiskey after winning a competition run by Jack Daniel’s in the north-west.

Josh Davies from The Hedonist Project in Leeds, Tatjana Titimova from Epernay in Manchester and Charlotte Coyle from Filter & Fox in Liverpool were picked by judges in the latest Tennessee Calling campaign. See below for their recipes.

They were among 10 bartenders chosen for the final stage of the cocktail competition that was run throughout the north-west and launched at The Liverpool Sessions trade event in October.

They created cocktails which were assessed by a team of judges who visited their bars this week, marking them based on the three key themes of the competition: entrepreneurialism, creativity and quality. Many of the finalists’ bars had created special menus and other features to promote their Tennessee Calling II creations.

The judges included London Cocktail Club co-founder JJ Goodman and Erik Lorincz, head bartender at The Savoy’s American Bar, along with the Jack Daniel’s advocacy team including UK brand ambassador Cam Dawson and Brown-Forman’s head of brand advocacy for northern Europe, Nidal Ramini.

The final three will travel to the home of Jack Daniel’s in Lynchburg, Tennessee, where they will get an authentic understanding of the intricate quality controls at the Jack Daniel Distillery while gaining unprecedented access into the barrel houses and warehouse with the master distiller, Jeff Arnett.

They will then go on to create, plan and host an event at one of the world’s best cocktail bars, The Dead Rabbit Grocery & Grog in New York City, under the mentorship and expertise of the Dead Rabbit team.

The other seven finalists were Josh Allen of Tipple Cocktails in Lancaster, Jo Last of The Domino Club in Leeds, Jack Bishop of Filter & Fox in Liverpool, Toby Boyce of Santa Maluco in Liverpool, Alastair McCarroll of Chamber 36 in Liverpool, Shane Kilgarriff of Peggy’s Bar in Manchester and Nathan Larkin of Fizzy Tarté in Bowness-on-Windermere in the Lake District.
