Leading operator Barworks has opened a fourth site for its 5cc cocktail bar concept, transforming the basement of one of its venues in east London.
It has converted the basement of its Shoreditch bar Electricity Showrooms into the cocktail concept with its own separate street entrance.
It follows Barworks’ three previous 5cc bars upstairs at The Exmouth Arms in Exmouth Market, downstairs at The Well & Bucket in Bethnal Green Road and downstairs at Harrild & Sons in Farringdon.
A new menu has been created for the new site by head bartender Daniel Andersson with group bar manager Charles Montanaro who has been revamping the menus across all the 5cc bars.
For Negroni fans, the Italian Gentleman combines bourbon, rye, Campari and white vermouth, finished with a touch of maraschino liqueur and served in an absinthe-rinsed glass.
Adventurous drinkers can enjoy the Play Dead, a combination of rye whiskey, Yellow Chartreause, Lillet Blanc and Fernet Branca. The Postorder plays with the sweetness of rosemary honey and Demerara rum, coupled with mint and lime juice and finished with Cremant.
It also offers sharing drinks served in barrels, such as the Barrel’y Legal made with rock candy cordial and rum.
The bar offers a selection of snacks including marinated goat’s cheese with chilli, garlic and smoked beechwood mackerel pate, and the free-range British duck liver parfait.
5cc at the Electricity Showrooms features plush high leather chairs, snug booths and long copper bar tops, contrasting with neon-lit flooring and black sheen walls.
Alongside an eclectic music soundtrack, the bar will have guest DJs spinning soul, old school rock ‘n’ roll and rhythm and blues.
The bar is open from 6pm to midnight Sunday to Thursday, and 6pm to 1am Fridays and Saturdays.
