BBFB Cocktail Culture for London Cocktail Week


The training team from Bacardi Brown-Forman Brands (BBFB), plus guest bartenders and brand ambassadors, will be serving up cocktails and sharing their expertise as part of London Cocktail Week.

From October 8 to 12, they are taking over a site in Mercer Street in Seven Dials, Covent Garden – the hub of this year’s London Cocktail Week – for seminars and workshops. They are modelled on the Cocktail Culture training sessions that the team take to bartenders around the UK.

The workshops will showcase BBFB’s range of brands including Bacardi, Jack Daniel’s, Bombay Sapphire, Grey Goose and Woodford Reserve as well delving into trends. Alongside the training team will be brand ambassadors and bartenders who have won competitions run for BBFB brands.

With about 35 events planned over the five days, the workshops include:

Monday 8 October
14:00-14:30 The Great Shake Down – The Perfect Shaker for the Perfect Drink
The training team present the results of their great shaking experiment into temperature and dilution where over 400 bartenders around the UK have contributed their shakes using a variety of shaker styles.

15:00-16:00 Martini Vermouth – Decoded
Martini global brand ambassador Giuseppe Gallo provides an insight into Martini vermouth, looking at some of the respected bartenders and imbibers of our past generations and remaking classic serves using this renowned spirit.

Tuesday 9 October
14:00-14:30 Three big cocktail trends for 2013
Ian McLaren, head of training at BBFB, leads a session which draws on the BBFB training team’s observations of the UK bar scene and beyond to examine the trends set to shape the industry.

Wednesday 10 October
13:00-14:00 Maturation the American way
Join the training team and BBFB’s new American whiskey ambassador Tom Vernon for a hands-on look and taste of different effects of maturation on American whiskey.

Thursday 11 October
14:00-14;30 The Martini – Tailored to Your Personal Taste
Joe McCanta, Grey Goose brand ambassador, takes guests through the evolution of the one cocktail everyone has an opinion on and what perfection is to them.

16:00-16:30 Bacardi’s Cocktail Legacy
Bacardi rum ambassador Shervene Shahbazkhani (pictured) gives an insight into some of the respected bartenders and imbibers of our past generations, taking a look at their contribution to cocktail culture and remaking some of their forgotten classics using the range of renowned Bacardi rums.

Friday 12 October
15:00-16:00 Bombay Sapphire Flavour Experience
The training team take guests on a journey of gin connoisseurship and explore how production techniques and quality of ingredients impact on aroma and ultimately the flavour of gin.
