Leading operator Beds & Bars has introduced mobile phone ordering for its customers, helping to cut queues at the bar at its Belushi’s bar in Newquay in Cornwall.

It has partnered with mobile ordering app Orderella which allows people to order and pay for their drinks and food using their smartphones.

It has been introduced at Belushi’s for the town’s peak season when it attracts surfers from all over the world. It is also home to Beds & Bars’ backpacker hostel St Christopher’s Inn.

Belushi’s is spread out over two bars and a cliff-top beer garden with seating for over 80 people. The app will be available for use by the wide variety of customers who visit all three of these areas.

The long-term plan is for Orderella to be available at all nine of the Belushi’s sites across the UK, from Bath and Edinburgh to locations across London.

Richard Bradford, operations director at Belushi’s, said: “There are few places in England that appeal during the summer as much as Newquay, and we’re expecting to be very busy over the next month.

“This is where Orderella will help immensely, as it can assist our staff with taking orders and managing the bar queues, ensuring our customers can get on with relaxing in the sun and enjoying the beautiful sea views.”

Orderella chief executive Dennis Collet added: “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Beds & Bars for the first time and launching in its Newquay Belushi’s site, and hope it will be the start of a fruitful, long-term relationship for both parties.

“Orderella is going to prove invaluable as they approach their peak season, and before long they won’t know how they managed without it!”

Orderella has embarked on a second round of funding to support expansion, raising over 70% of its £1million target during the first three weeks. Eighty per cent of the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) funding is coming from existing shareholders and values the company at £16million.

Already this year, new partnerships have been formed with key operators such as Star Pubs & Bars, Enterprise Inns, Stonegate Pub Company, Oakman Inns, The Porterhouse Brewing Company, The Burning Night Group, and Bar Sport.

These partnerships have seen Orderella greatly expand its reach across the country, with the app now available for use in several of the key metropolitan cities in the north, including Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool and Chester.

This year has also seen Orderella expand into a selection of new markets, including sports stadiums, hotels, theatres and festivals, with the app available for use at the Isle of Wight Festival, Newport Gwent Dragons Rugby Club, and Danubius Hotel Regent’s Park, among others.
