The Pioneer Brewing Company is launching a beer school programme so that it can bring world-class beer education to the UK.
Designed for beer trade professionals and craft beer enthusiasts, the Beer Professional Education and Training course is thought to be the only one of its kind in the UK. It will prepare attendees for the Cicerone Certification, the industry standard for identifying those with significant knowledge and professional skills in beer sales and service.
The course has been developed by some the biggest craft beer talents in the UK: Master Cicerone’s Mirella Amato and Rich Higgins, alongside accredited Beer Sommelier and member of the British Guild of Beer Writer, Jonny Tyson.
Jonny Tyson, Beer Knowledge and Training Manager at Pioneer Brewing Company, said this was an exciting advancement for the industry. “The number of breweries and the range of beers available in the UK has never been more exciting,” Jonny commented. “As consumer knowledge of craft beer increases, they need help from a server who really understands beer flavours, styles and service to help them navigate through the vast number of choices available.”
“This course is designed to help advance careers and equip bartenders, servers and sommeliers with in-depth knowledge that can help enhance the customer experience, drive sales and increase profits. And if you’re an enthusiast, the program will make you the go to in-the-know beer expert, amongst your craft-beer loving friends!”
The Pro Beer Sommelier Course Level 1 will initially launch in London and Leeds in Spring 2017 through an exclusive partnership with the Local Wine School. Classes in Leeds, www.yorkshirewineschool.com and London www.westlondonwineschool.com can be booked now, with Edinburgh, Manchester and further cities to follow in 2017.
