Big Easy, Dishoom and STK to open sites in Edinburgh

Big Easy Bar.B.Q & Lobstershack and Indian restaurant and bar Dishoom are both to open their first sites outside of London in Edinburgh.

They are to take over units in the South St Andrew Square development (pictured) in the city’s New Town alongside previously announced bars and restaurants from Drake & Morgan and Busaba Eathai.

Also announced for the site is New York-style contemporary steakhouse and lounge concept STK Rebel from operator The One Group which runs STK London at ME Hotel in London.

It will be the fourth site for Big Easy which this month opened its latest bar and restaurant in the Crossrail development in Canary Wharf in London’s Docklands. It has signed on a 8,770 sq ft unit fronting on to St Andrew Square.

With sites in Chelsea and Covent Garden, Big Easy offers a menu of American-style house-smoked barbecue seafood and meat along with bars specialising in whiskey and rum.

Dishoom, which opened its fourth site in the Carnaby area of Soho in London last month, is taking a 6,800 sq ft unit also facing St Andrew Square.

Inspired by the Bombay cafés of the 1950s, it serves an all-day menu of small plates, grills, biryanis, salad plates, rolls and curries and, at three of its sites, also has a Permit Room bar offering cocktails.

The South St Andrew Square development is being built in a joint venture between the Standard Life Investments Pooled Pension Property Fund and developer Peveril Securities.

“These lettings demonstrate the strong appeal of the South St Andrew Square development and Edinburgh as a destination for international restaurants as they look to expand outside of London. We’re confident South St Andrew Square will become the prime destination for top-quality dining in Edinburgh.”

Ralph Jones, managing director of Peveril Securities, added: “These restaurants are joining an existing list of high-quality tenants. South St Andrew Square is set to become Edinburgh’s top destination for dining and we’re pleased with the calibre of tenant that the development is attracting.”
