Halewood Wines & Spirits-owned JJ Whitley is adding a new blood orange-flavoured gin to its craft spirits portfolio.
Bottled at 38.6% ABV, the “bright and zesty” expression leads with the scent of Mediterranean orange. The gin’s palate “complements candied citrus peel and zesty marmalade, with undertones of liquorice root and cassia bark,” while the finish “effortlessly balances piney juniper with lively, Sicilian citrus.”
JJ Whitley’s new, clear glass bespoke bottle features a bright orange shade and floral embossing, designed to reflect the brand’s story and craft credentials, while at the same time, enhancing its visual presence on the shelf.
The new liquid will complement the brand’s existing range of spirits, which includes four gins: J Whitley Elderflower Gin, Nettle Gin, London Dry Gin and Violet Gin, and two vodkas: JJ Whitley Rhubarb Vodka and Potato Vodka.
Leanne Ware, white spirits director at Halewood Wines & Spirits, said: “We’ve seen orange-flavoured spirits perform exceptionally well for our other brands such as Whitley Neill, which carries blood orange gin and vodka variants.
“As a result, we saw an opportunity to add another dimension to JJ Whitley’s portfolio just in time for the start of summer and warmer weather.
“With a heritage and strong success in bringing new, intriguing flavours to market, the brand is well-positioned to capitalise on this trend.
“What’s more, the introduction of a fresh, distinctive bottle was important for the brand’s future growth in the segment, in which look and feel is an important consideration for consumers and hugely influential in their purchasing decision within this category.”
