The new Bloomsbury Distillery is targeting the on-trade with its vodka, pastis and bitter spirit after appointing Highball Brands as its exclusive UK distributor.
Founded in 2016 by Alan McQuillan and Ben Harriman, it was the first distillery in Bloomsbury in London for nearly three-quarters of a century, set up to create complex spirits using both old and modern recipes with botanicals from across the world.
Its current range, available in 50cl bottles, features Bloomsbury Peated Vodka, at 45% ABV, which has peated flavour from being made with malt barley that has been used in the peat-drying process during whisky production.
Bloomsbury Pastis, at 42% ABV, is an innovative take on the French aperitif, made with cucumber, orange peel, Sussex hops, Vietnamese star anise and agave, brought together in a three-stage distillation process.
Bloomsbury Amer, at 42% ABV, was created in collaboration with leading bartender Chris Moore of east London bar Coupette, designed to be a contemporary version of the French spirit. Wild gentian, freshly peeled oranges and burdock root are combined through a complex distillation process with a raisin spirit.

Founded in 2016 by drinks industry experts Fabrice Limon and Barrie Wilson, Highball Brands also distributes Takamaka Rum, Fifty Eight Gin, Santo de Piedra mezcal, Virtuous Vodka and Fanny Fougerat cognac.
