Urban Leisure Group’s Bobby Fitzpatrick bar in West Hampstead will host London’s first Rum Off cocktail competition launching on September 5.
Following on from the hugely successful Gin Off tournaments at Bobby Fitzpatrick’s sister bar, Graphic Bar in GoldenSquare, Bobby Fitzpatrick will be hosting its own cocktail competition which will focus on Bobby’s tipple of choice – rum.
This new competition will see eight leading rum brands compete through a series of exhilarating cocktail making heats to be crowned Rum Off champion 2018.
Spiced, flavoured, vintage, overproof; rum in all its forms has been enjoying a renaissance and is rapidly becoming the nation’s next favourite tipple.
The Rum Off will include household names alongside small batch artisanal rums. The full list of contenders comprises: Havana Club, The Real McCoy, Gosling’s, Skipper, Pusser’s, Westerhall Estate, Doorly’s and Plantation.
Each rum will partner with a top bartender to devise an inventive rum serve. Guests will be able to try one of each cocktail and will be able vote for their favourite at the end of the evening on polling cards.
Heats will take place in September and will be followed by semi-finals in October in which qualifiers will create a new bespoke cocktail.
The Grand Final in November will be “an intense battle of rum titans” as the overall winner will be in with a chance of winning a cash prize of £1000.
