Boutique Bar Show expands into year-round programme

boutique bar showBoutique Bar Show is expanding its offering beyond its three exhibitions to running a series of seminars, tastings and experiences for the trade throughout the year.

Involving a variety of drinks brands and bars, the events are aimed at providing a platform for people in the industry to exchange information and ideas.

It follows on from the success of the London show in 2013 which saw leading bars in the capital such as NOLA, Opium, the Rivoli at The Ritz, Hawksmoor, El Camion, Rev JW Simpson and Bam-Bou sharing expertise with their industry peers.

The new seminar series will complement the three traditional shows that Boutique Bar Show Productions hosts during the year in Manchester on May 7, in London on September 16 and 17 and in Edinburgh on October 21.

Events so far have included a management seminar hosted by Watershed School in February (pictured) and a cross-category event on vermouth in the Bassoon bar at London’s Corinthia Hotel where the trade were able to sample and learn about brands including Mancino, Sacred, La Quintinye and Riserva Carlo Alberto.

Upcoming seminars in London include an English Julep tasting hosted at The Whip in Mayfair, a session on Japanese whiskies with Bam-Bou in Fitzoriva, and “Cocktails and Cigars” with NOLA in Shoreditch.

The variety of sessions is also being expanded at the shows themselves in 2014, including a “bespoke drinks experience” with leading distiller Jamie Baxter of Exigo Brewing and Distilling on how to distil products in your own bar.

For management-level visitors, the shows offer a free two-hour course on management development and personal effectiveness with the highly regarded Watershed School which boasts clients such as Hawksmoor, Wahaca, Byron and Columbo Group.

Continuing the success of the popular “secret bar” concept, Boutique Bar Shows will treat visitors to a five-star experience with the Rivoli bar team – if you are able to find it.

New launches at the shows will include Colorado whisky Tincup and a boutique range from Arta Tequila.

Bartenders will also have the opportunity to win a trip to France in conjunction with leading French aperitif brand Byrrh Grand Quinquina, distributed by Emporia Brands.
