All things Americana have inspired the new look of the Hollywood Bowl Centre in London’s Surrey Quays, including its stylish new destination bar.
The Original Bowling Company, the UK’s largest tenpin bowling operator, has invested £350,000 in a refurbishment of the bowling centre. It includes a new “Hollywood Diner” serving American-style classics from the new menu, including gourmet burgers and hot dogs, freshly made shakes served in milk bottles and retro glasses, and sundaes. One of the booths in the Hollywood Diner is made out of a vintage Mustang car.
There is also the new Hollywood Bar (pictured top) serving speciality cocktails, wine, beers and soft drinks, making it popular for night-time trade as well as a place to relax before and after games.
All of the 32 lanes offer touch-screen technology, and six have been converted into VIP lanes, allowing customers to book to bowl in a plush, roped-off area overlooked by Hollywood legends such as Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley and Harrison Ford (pictured below). The addition of these new lanes gives Surrey Quays more VIP lanes than any other Hollywood Bowl in the country – reflecting the importance of the corporate market in the Docklands area.
The company completed a total of five Hollywood Bowl refurbishments in 2015 including a £500,000 project in Cardigan Fields Leisure Park in Leeds in November which also saw the creation of a new Hollywood Diner and a stylish bar with new décor celebrating Americana.
Other major refurbishments were carried out in 2015 at Hollywood Bowl Centres in Crawley in West Sussex, Eastleigh in Hampshire, Basildon in Essex, and Cardiff.
Steve Burns, CEO at The Original Bowling Company, said: “The refurbishments we completed in 2015 have been extremely well-received by our customers and are delivering excellent returns on our investments. The Surrey Quays centre is the first of several planned refurbishments in 2016 and we are also actively looking for opportunities to open new centres on a nationwide basis.”
