Leading Spanish water brand launched in UK

Solan de CabrasSpanish premium water brand Solán de Cabras is being introduced to the UK on the back of growth in the Spanish food and drink scene.

It has been added to the portfolio of drinks importer Morgenrot, a specialist in world beers, which has become its sole UK distributor.

Sourced from a single spring in the Cuenca hills near Beteta in central Spain, it is part of the portfolio of Mahou-San Miguel Grupa, which also owns San Miguel, Alhambra and Mahou beers.

Graham Archibald, Morgenrot national account director, said: “The Solán de Cabras brand is an integral part of Spanish culture and heritage and is much loved across Spain.

“With its beautiful, stand-out packaging, premium quality and unique taste profile, we’re incredibly excited to have it and feel it will be a great fit for top restaurants, hotels and pubs – those who appreciate impeccable premium credentials and taste.”

Jesús Núñez Sánchez, managing director of soft drinks for the Mahou-San Miguel Grupa, said: “The Spanish food and drink scene in the UK is buoyant at present with consumers showing a real thirst for premium-quality Spanish food and drink whether in the on-trade or retail.

“To this end, we felt it was the perfect time to introduce the Solán de Cabras brand to the UK water category. Solán de Cabras has a remarkable heritage, taste profile and quality while offering a beautifully stylish point of difference to the discerning customer.”

First referenced in Roman times, the mineral composition of the spring has hardly changed since the first chemical analysis was made in 1790. It has been calculated that rainfall is filtered for 400 years before it emerges from the spring, which runs at a constant temperature of 21 degrees.

Solán de Cabras’ low sodium and high magnesium content makes it an ideal table water, perfect for today’s focus on healthy lifestyles. In Spain, it is the official water of Real Madrid Football Club.

Presented in distinctive blue bottles, Solán de Cabras is available in 33cl and 75cl PET bottles and in 50cl and 100cl glass bottles.
